Today Eleanor Roosevelt High School students announced that they will be heading to New York City November 12-13thto compete in the annual Quidditch World Cup V.  Quidditch is the sport based on the fictional game coined in the Harry Potter series.

According to Prince George’s County Public Schools:

 

The Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) Office of Pupil Accounting and School Boundaries will host three public forums to provide an opportunity for students, parents and community members to share ideas on improving school boundaries. Public input will be used to develop recommendations that will be presented to the Board of Education.

Topics include addressing boundary concerns at Kingsford, Highland Park, Yorktown, and Baden elementary schools; discussing the possibility of shifting sixth grade into middle schools; adjusting boundaries for specialty programs; and ensuring that all students in a neighborhood attend the same schools.

 

PGCPS Superintendent Named To National PTA Board of Directors

 

UPPER MARLBORO, MD – Prince George’s County Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. William R. Hite Jr., was recently appointed to the National Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Board. Dr. Hite’s term will expire in 2013

During his term, Dr. Hite will support the National PTA in meeting the goals of their strategic plan as they collectively create a research agenda that advocates family engagement to support educational success, health, and well-being; develop and implement evidence-based policy, programs and resources; recognize and implement best practices among PTAs through 2013.

Langley Park-McCormick Elementary Honored Through New Recognition Program

 

According to the Prince George's County Public Schools Communication Office:

Langley Park-McCormick Elementary School in Hyattsville has been recognized as a  “Super School” by Imagine Learning as part of their new Imagine Nation customer recognition program. School staff and students were presented with a banner, a plaque, and software during an assembly with students in Grades 1-4 on September 13. The school uses the company's award-winning language and literacy software, Imagine Learning English, to address the needs of students for whom English is a second language. English is a second language for approximately 66-percent of the students at Langley Park-McCormick Elementary School.

Patriots Technology Training Center to Host Back to School Kick Off

"WELCOME BACK" Students, Teachers, Parents, Guidance Counselors, Principals, Superintendent and School Board Members... We have a great STEM line up for this year. Safe Routes to Schools Grant Funding Awarded to Prince George's County

 

Maryland Lt. Governor Brown will announce a major award of funding to Prince George's County through the State's Safe Routes to Schools Program to enhance student pedestrian safety on Friday morning, September 9, 2011,10:30 AM,  at Glenridge Elementary, 7200 Gallatin Street, Landover Hills, Maryland.
