Police Searching For Suspects In Girl Scouts Robbery

BOWIE, Md. (WUSA) -- Bowie Police are looking for two suspects who stole a cash box that belonged to a Girl Scout troop on Oct. 28.

A different Girl Scout troop was selling cookies in that same spot Friday night.  They had a message for the men they're now calling the "Cookie Monsters."

"Give us back the Girl Scout money!" said Girl Scout Leah Sawyer.

According to police, the victim and witness were with a Girl Scout troop selling cookies in front of the Wal-Mart at 3300 Crain Hwy.

The first suspect asked how much were the cookies, then grabbed the cash box and ran. The witness chased after him towards the back of the building until a second man said he would catch the suspect. The witnessed thought that the man was a Good Samaritan and so she stopped.

Now police say that man is also a suspect. The two suspects were last seen entering the woods behind Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart security cameras appear to show the suspects in the store together.

Anyone with information on either suspect can contact the Bowie Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 301-575-2480 or email jknott@cityofbowie.org
